節目內容：

　　王魁寒窗苦讀為求一試成名，在趕考途中因故解救風塵女子焦桂英，且陰錯陽差結識同為舉人的焦正賢，並與之結拜一同赴考。而在夜宿酒樓之時，觥籌交錯間桂英與正賢姐弟相認，加上巧遇考期延後，桂英旋即出資支應、百般照顧王魁生活起居，兩人日久生情進而結為夫妻。不料王魁高中狀元後為圖平步青雲，拋棄髮妻另娶相府千金，桂英上京認夫不成反遭毒打傷重，在對海神淒訴告狀之後撞死於海神廟，受海神憐憫重返陽間活捉負心漢王魁為己復仇。

Synopsis:

  Wang Kui has studied so hard for the imperial examination. On the way to examination, he saves a young courtesan named Jiao Guiying and meets another candidate, Jiao Zhengxian. Wang Kui and Jiao Zhengxian then become sworn brothers. When they are accommodated in an inn, Guiying and Zhengxian identify each other as sister and brother. Due to the delay of examination, Guiying provides Wang Kui monetary support and takes good care of him. They then fall in love and get married. However, after Wang Kui finishing first in the examination, he abandons his wife and marries the daughter of head minister for future promotion. When Guiying comes to find her husband, she is beaten cruelly. After that, she petitions the God of Sea with tears and commits suicide in the temple. The God of Sea shows his compassion and brings her alive. Finally, she takes revenge on Wang Kui.
